occupy gezi - protests in TurkeyA peaceful protest against government plans to demolish the "GEZI PARK" in Taksim square (Istanbul) which started with several people trying to save the trees was met with a police crackdown and madness. Excessive amounts of tear gas was used towards people and it turned into a huge anti-government riot after the excessive police violence.
The protesters have been shot, gassed, beaten but they won't stop chanting against the fascism. On the contradictory of what the government claims, these people were only trying to protest about what they believe is right and they were doing that peacefully. They know that they have a right to speak their mind and they have a freedom of assembly. They know that this all thing is against democracy. They are even cleaning the huge battle-garbage out of the streets right now eventhough they are called "provocateurs" by the government. The crowd I saw last night was unbelievably kind and friendly even after 3 sleepless nights and all that exposure to gas
